"Hénon Trap" large model

How to use it : 

The Hénon large model garden box allows not only to catch mustelids such as the weasel but also the fox. This cage is a compromise between the tawny box and the drop box. Its particularity is the large opening that is offered to the animal when the Hénon large model garden box is stretched.  There is no risk of the doors rattling in the wind, the animals enter easily. When the pest presses on the pallet, the top of the cage falls down and blocks to prevent the animal from escaping. Its trigger paddle (front only) prevents the animal from triggering the trap by scratching on the outside back of the trap. When the upper part falls down, it is kept locked in the lower part. This prevents the animal from opening the door and risking escape even if it manages to tilt the cage to the side.

The mesh size of the Hénon large model garden box is small, it sometimes allows the catching of skunks that will be counted before being released. The Hénon large model garden box is easy to handle: its weight, less than 20 kg, makes it easy to transport. Simply place the cage flat as it must not move when the animal is going to put its leg at the entrance. It is necessary to line the bottom of the Hénon Large Garden Box with straw, hay or cut grass depending on where it will be placed. Provide a side clearance for the proper operation of the trigger. You can place this cage in hedges, attics, near manures, in wood piles, near farm sheds, along partridge or pheasant pre-release cages or other places visited by mustelids and foxes. The bait to be used depends on the season and the target animal: 

Poultry or rabbit viscera under the cage at pallet level (to avoid maggot damage); the smell alone will be enough to attract predators.

Pigeon nest recovered in a "handcuff" with its droppings and a few eggs deposited at the back of the cage on the pallet or false nest.

Small tip: to avoid the animal to pass on the sides of the cage, place a small bundle on each side or a bundle of wood (be careful not to interfere with the release of the trap).
