As an option, you have the possibility to take 2 panels of locksmith netting (2x1m) to put on the ground to avoid predation or to create a shelter in a corner with plants.
How to use :
Choose sites favourable to the reintroduction of birds to position your pre-release cage.
This cage consists of gradually releasing the pheasants so that they can get used to the territory. To do this, leave the birds in the cage for about 4 days with food and water.
It is important that the pheasants are grazed nearby before release! So place an identical seeder inside and outside the pre-release cage (the 5-litre seeder is best suited).
A small dozen young, aged 8 to 12 weeks, will be released and may be accompanied by a reminder bird. (Be careful not to let it fly away).
If you have several cages, remember to space them apart to avoid bird groupings.
Releases for restocking should be carried out close to a fixed element of the landscape that serves as a landmark (tree, hedge, etc.) and close to crops that remain standing for several weeks, such as sunflowers or other game crops.
Pheasant :
In France, the pheasant is present in most departments but natural populations are more important in the Paris Basin, in the North and in the East.
The pheasant is very adaptable and although many areas are already suitable for the species, development is sometimes necessary to maintain a satisfactory standard of living. For that you can find on our site, our products necessary for the agrainage.
Before release, predator control is necessary. Find all our categories of cage traps, fox trap, rat trap, weasel trap, mini henhouse ... on our website: Trapping section.
