Functioning :

This cage is equipped with 2 bait baskets (carrot, apple...) which attract the pest in the bottom of the cage. To use this trap, you simply have to place it in a suitable place and place a bait in the compartment provided. The coypu, or muskrat, will be attracted to the coypu trap and will climb onto it in the hope of gaining access to the bait. Once on the cage, the weight of the animal will cause the paddle to tilt and the animal will become trapped in the cage. As the plate is made of aluminium, the coypu has no way of holding on to avoid falling into the cage. The anti-return system prevents the animal from escaping after the catch.

What bait?

The coypu is fond of apples and carrots. Simply cut one of these foods into pieces and place them in the compartments provided on the coypu trap. Corn can also be used. The Hunter's Journal regularly publishes articles on trapping coypu and muskrats that may be of interest to you.

Where to place your coypu trap?

Being lightweight, you will have no trouble transporting it. You can place it in places where you see coypu or muskrats. It is best to place it near water, as this is where these animals mainly live.
