1,8mm collar trap

Technical data :

◦ Cable made of galvanised steel

◦ Approved snare trap for catching foxes

◦ French production in our workshops

How to use it :

The buckle must slide between: an irremovable stop preventing the animal from strangling and a stop preventing the diameter of the opening from exceeding 20 cm.

It is generally placed in the runners. Once placed, the lower part of the snare must be at least 18 cm and at most 22 cm from the ground.

The stop collar has many advantages: it is very effective and quick to install, and it is also inexpensive, which means that many can be installed.

Laying techniques :

Can be used in many situations:

◦ In casting, on a manure heap in the plain, in a plough furrow

◦ When passing deer, at the burrow, across a ditch

◦ In straw bale, with wire netting

The collar trap therefore offers a multitude of possibilities, which makes it very versatile and therefore effective. These techniques are to be varied according to the places where the foxes pass as well as the seasons.

Our advice: Use our chain kit to attach your snare, it allows you to follow the movements of the captured animal and avoid twisting the snare. Renew your snare after each capture.

As the fox is a cunning animal, it will be able to recognise the human scent on the snare trap you are going to set. Remember to bring handling gloves to cover your scent after you have passed through.

After your catch, also put your gloves back on to protect yourself from diseases that the fox can potentially transmit to you.

You can also find on our site lots of snares with a diameter of 2 mm or 2.25 mm.

You can find out more about snaring trapping techniques in a special article on the hunter's diary.

Regulations :

In France, the snare trap is subject to very strict regulations. They must be approved by ministerial decree, following the opinion of the National Hunting and Wildlife Council. A non-approved trapper cannot therefore claim to trap foxes by means of the snare trap. Moreover, the approval number must be written on the snare trap. When you use one, you must also declare your trapping operation at the town hall.

Also check whether the fox is classified as a nuisance in your département, with your hunting federation or any other organisation capable of providing this information.
