What is it used for?

The X-trap clamp allows you to easily set your X-trap. Indeed, this type of trap is difficult to set with bare hands beyond a size of 13 cm. It is therefore strongly recommended that you use pliers to set your X-trap, especially if you have several traps to set. Furthermore, the X-traps sold on our website are all made in Canada by the historical manufacturer of the X-trap: Mr Belisle. The quality of these traps is recognized in North America as well as in Europe. Their powerful springs guarantee a quick kill of the animal, unlike many X-traps made in Asia and of a much lower quality. But strong, high quality springs also mean a trap that is more difficult to set by hand. That's why X-trap pliers are an indispensable tool. 

The X-trap:

This is a very common trap, which is frequently used to trap small rodents such as muskrats with the 13x13 X-trap, or to trap mustelids such as weasels with slightly larger and more powerful traps. Finally, the larger X-traps such as the 18x18 or 25x25 are more suitable for trapping coypu and foxes. In any case, the X-trap pliers will allow you to set any trap of any size. 

Reinforced or not?

The difference between an ordinary X-trap clamp and a reinforced X-trap clamp is, as you may have guessed, that a reinforced clamp is more suitable for large X-traps. The above pliers are more suitable for setting an X-trap of, say, 25cm by 25cm. However, you should know that they can be used for all X-traps sold on our website. There are two types of pliers, mainly to meet the needs of trappers who often have different trapping habits and techniques. In any case, reinforced or not, they are both made in France in our workshops: they are made to last!
