Trapping in France
Due to the damage they cause to crops or property, the health risks they are likely to generate or their proliferation, certain animals are likely to be classified as harmful (at departmental or national level).
They can then be trapped.
Who traps?
Trappers must have undergone compulsory training with the ONCFS or the departmental federation of hunters to which they belong, and they are then approved by the prefect. This approval is for an unlimited period. They are obliged to keep a daily record of their activity and report to the prefect. They use traps authorised by the legislator, who has classified them into five categories. The agents commissioned by the Minister of Ecology for the hunting police are also competent for trapping.
